What happens when innocence is lost'

God's Forgotten House is about the difficulty of what to do with innocence once it is lost. It is the story of a confused and struggling young man, John Phillips, who is court mandated to work in a home for troubled children in Harlem. Each child presents a unique set of emotional challenges, and the house is full of violent outbursts and emotional scars where only the strongest survive.

John's need for control has mixed results with the children, and only through the help of his co-worker, Ebony, is he able to come to terms with his own violent nature. Still, some of the children continue to make bad choices, causing harm to themselves and others. As he grows closer to the children, he strives to heal their abused pasts, while coming to terms with his own childhood abuse.
