Recent Developments in Cosmetic Surgery

Developments in cosmetic surgery have been fast tracked since its wide acceptance and popularity in the 19th century. Numerous innovations and breakthroughs with regards to surgical and non-surgical procedures have made its way in the mainstream industry and widely embraced by society as a means of acceptable self-improvement and self-enhancement procedures. However, cosmetic plastic surgery should only be done by registered cosmetic surgeons that have the training and ample experience to do it to ensure safety and satisfaction knowing that you are handled by professional hands.

Some of the plastic surgery procedures that are available today are listed below:

Surgical procedures

· Facial surgery (face lift or mini face lift)

The face lift procedure is done to address the aging problem most especially in women. It involves removal of excess fat and sagging facial skin and is done under a general anesthetic by a cosmetic surgeon.

· Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

The skin region around the eyes is the most noticeable indicator of age. This type of surgery eliminates eye bags and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

· Nose surgery (rhinoplasty)

Facial profile can be significantly altered by plastic surgeons through reshaping and resizing of the nose to create a subtle change.

· Ear surgery (otoplasty)

This procedure is used to position the ears in proportion with the other facial features by pinning and reshaping.

· Other facial cosmetic procedures

Various procedures can be done with practically every part of the face to contour, shape and conform it like eyebrow lift surgery, chin and cheek implants and surgery and lip enhancement surgery.

Cosmetic surgery can also be performed using non-surgical procedures like Botox and anti wrinkle filler injections, chemical peels and laser resurfacing that targets problem areas of the patients.
